Just enter the “C” then the 4 digits and turn the handle to open the gate. It will lock automatically when the gate is firmly closed.
NOTE that there is a slide bolt on the inside of the gate for added security once you have entered the gate & closed it.
Getting into the House
Access Code: The door code for your stay will be sent via email to you 10 days in advance of your arrival. If you don’t see that email in your INBOX please check your JUNK or SPAM folders.
Our house has a keyless entry system on the front door. Your code will be effective from 4 pm on your check-in day to 10 am on your check out day. Please be sure to bring it with you.
To unlock the door enter the digits of your code followed by the # sign. The lock should blink green twice and emit two beeping sounds.
The door will automatically lock itself 5 seconds after the code is used….you do not have to do anything except make sure you pull the door completely shut when entering or leaving the property.

Trash Pick-Up Day
The trash cans are located inside the trash corral in the brick patio area in front of the house.
The usual trash pick-up day is Thursday mornings. If your booking includes a Wednesday & Thursday would you mind please taking the trash can outside of the gate into the alley on Wednesday evening, and back again on Thursday after the trash has been picked up? We really would appreciate it! Place the cans on the edge of the parking area so that it will be accessible to the waste pick up truck with the open lid side facing the alley.
Recycling is picked up every other week. If you see the neighbors putting their blue recycling cans out on Wednesday you’ll know that the recycling trash can should also be put out in the alley for pick up.
You will receive an email reminder regarding trash pick-up if you’ll be staying at the house on a Wednesday/Thursday.
Pets & No Smoking Reminder
Guests are not permitted to bring pets into our home. If extra cleaning is necessary to remove pet stains and/or clean rugs/upholstery to remove cigarette smoke after your departure, you will be responsible for those additional cleaning charges. Thanks very much for your cooperation.

THINGS TO DO:
We love the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park (we have annual passes), and all of the museums right there near the zoo. There is also Sea World. We love to go down to the waterfront and walk or bike there. A visit to Old Town San Diego is always fun if you’ve never been there before. My husband loves to golf and if you are interested I can ask him for the names of some of his favorite courses.
RESTAURANTS:
As for favorite places to eat, we like a lot of the local neighborhood places such as Pizzeria Luigi, Panchita’s Bakery, Adalberto’s Mexican Food. We also like going down to Little Italy, there are a lot of good restaurants there also. One of our favorites is The Crack Shack (chicken).
You might also want to check out Liberty Station, a formal Naval Training Center that has been turned into a “Town Square” of sorts. It has a lot of shops, cafes, restaurants, a Von’s grocery store, parks & playgrounds. The Rock Church is also located there; that is where we attend Sunday services when we are in town. Follow the link above to learn more about it.
Check-Out Procedures
10 A.M. Pacific time. NO Late Check-Outs without prior permission. (Be careful because your door access code will expire and you will not be able to get back into the unit after it does.)
Please follow this process upon check-out:
- Place soiled dishes and utensils in the dishwasher and turn on. Dishwashing detergent is located under the kitchen sink. (If our housekeeper has to wash the dishes she will charge us extra, which we will have to collect from you as an excess cleaning fee.)
- Please clean out the refrigerator and dispose of any leftover food. You may leave pantry items, condiments, etc. to share with subsequent guests as long as they have not reached their expiration date.
- Please clean up major boil-overs or spills in the oven. The housekeeper charges extra to clean major messes in the oven. Same for the microwave; please clean up both to avoid extra cleaning charges.
- Put used towels in the bathtub. This helps the housekeeper determine which have been used. Be sure that all towels are accounted for. You will be charged for lost/damaged/excessively dirty towels or linens.
- If you’ve moved any furniture around, please return to its original position.
- The iron & ironing board are located in the closet of the bedroom. If you used the iron please drain all of the water out of it before returning it to the closet.
- All trash must be taken out to the trash can inside the gate. There are extra trash bags under the kitchen sink, if needed during your stay.
- Please check the bedrooms, the kitchen and bathroom cabinets for personal belongings. We are not responsible for any items left behind. If you leave anything behind, we will return it if possible, but if the housekeepers say they didn’t find anything, unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about it.
- TURN OFF ALL THE LIGHTS.
- In the winter turn thermostat (located on the wall the living room of the large apartment) to “Heat” and the temperature down to 68 degrees. In the summer turn the thermostat to “Cool” and the temperature to 76 degrees.
- There is no need to reset the combination or lock the door when you leave. The combination will expire at check-out time (10:00am) and the door will automatically lock when you close the door. Please have all your personal belongings outside before check-out time to avoid problems. You’ll be locked out at 10:01am.
- If you’ve used the key from the lockbox, please return it to the lockbox.
Thanks so much for staying at our home in San Diego. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoy staying there. We’d love to have you visit again in the future. If you have any suggestions on how to improve our guests’ experience please let us know!
